HANCOCK -- TONIGHT, Saturday, Oct. 19, the Orpheum Theater will host a concert to support a great cause at the Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Band Benefit, featuring local musicians Kevin Blackstone, The Leslie Cabinets (aka, Erika Vye and Steve Brimm), and Gratiot Lake Road.
EWB is a humanitarian organization that provides service learning opportunities to Michigan Tech students. Students are given the chance to travel to developing communities worldwide and help design sustainable engineering projects that will help improve quality of life for the members of these communities.
The EWB Band Benefit raises money for travel and project expenses for students involved in the organization. For more on EWB and what they do for communities around the world visit http://ewb.students.mtu.edu/
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with music starting at 8 p.m. The cover charge is $7 at the door.

Orpheum Theater to host local folk music bands TONIGHT, Sept. 6
HANCOCK -- The Orpheum Theater in Hancock will host two local folk music bands TONIGHT, Friday, Sept. 6 -- Adam Kentala and Tony Laux (known as The Marquette Generals) and Gratiot Lake Road.
"Come out to the Orpheum for a night of thought-provoking lyrical harmonies, banjo-plucked melodies, and some tasty bass-driven jams," says Orpheum owner Michael Shupe. "These guys have all played the Orpheum stage in the past, but never all together, so be sure not to miss it."
Shupe adds that, as rumor has it, Gratiot Lake Road and Tony Laux will be moving away soon, so don't miss the show tonight!
Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Music begins at 8 p.m. Cost: $5 for the show.

Orpheum to host Golden Boy, New Familiar Oct. 4
HANCOCK -- Goldenboy, Featuring the New Familiar -- Shon Sullivan's new project-- will perform at the Orpheum Theater in Hancock as a part of their current national tour.
Shon has been been a touring and recording guitarist with the EELS, Rentals and with Elliot Smith. His new project, Goldenboy backed up by The New Familiar, will mesmerize you with their ultra mellow folk grooves.
The Copper Country's own Gratiot Lake Road will open with their own brand of mellow folk for an unbelievable night not to be missed.
This show is only $5, which is crazy cheap for a show this good. Be there, or you'll be sorry! Music starts around 8 p.m.
