HOUGHTON -- The Copper Country Ski Tigers will hold a used Outdoor Gear Swap Saturday, April 11, at the Houghton High School Multi-Purpose room. Buy or sell outdoor gear -- bikes, kayaks, canoes, camping gear, skis, snowboards, soccer, hockey and outdoor clothing or any other item for the silent sport enthusiast.
Drop off items to be sold from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, or from 9 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. Saturday, April 11.
The sale will be held from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Unsold items or $$ earned are to be picked up from 12:45 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. A 15 percent commission, with a $50 maximum commission per item, will be charged on all items sold. The Ski Tigers will also summer wax cross country skis for $10 and snowboards for $15.
The outdoor gear swap is a huge fundraiser for the Copper Country Ski Tigers Race Team made up of middle and high school age Nordic skiers throughout the Copper Country.

League of Women Voters to host forum on Portage Township Board election Oct. 22
HOUGHTON -- A candidates’ forum for the Portage Township Board Election will be held by the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Houghton High School.
Candidates for supervisor, treasurer, clerk and trustee positions have been invited to participate. Audience members will be able to submit written questions during the program. There will be an informal refreshment time following the panel Question and Answer session.
League of Women Voters rules for forums ask that audience members remove any buttons, t-shirts or other campaign paraphernalia while in the auditorium. The audience will also refrain from applause or vocalization, etc., during the program. The public's cooperation is appreciated.
