"You'll Never Walk Alone," 10th Annual Omega House Summer Concert, is July 19

HOUGHTON -- Omega House continues its summer tradition with its 10th Annual Summer Concert, "You’ll Never Walk Alone." Local musicians and singers will combine their talents and volunteer their time to bring together what has become a favorite Omega House benefit. It will take place at 7 p.m. next Tuesday, July 19, at Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton. A $10 donation is suggested.

This year’s concert will be headlined by Mark Oliver, singing "You’ll Never Walk Alone," the Rodgers and Hammerstein song written for Carousel. It carries a message that reminds us to live with hope and resilience.

Also, new to this year’s concert as concert mistress is Kiersten Birondo, who has agreed to take over, this year, for Lara Neves. Kiersten, a 6th generation Yooper, has performed in prior summer concerts. Omega House organizers are thrilled that she has agreed to take over this 10th Anniversary concert.

July 21 Summer Concert, "being alive," to benefit Omega House

HOUGHTON -- The 9th Annual Omega House Summer Concert, "being alive," will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton. The public is invited to enjoy this annual summer concert of local musicians and singers who blend their talents through jazz, light opera, folk and popular music to benefit Omega House, a peaceful non-profit hospice home in Houghton.*

This year the Omega House Concert will feature as special guests the Noteworthy women's chorus and tenor D’mitri Williams.

Williams will open the program with "Being Alive" from Company, by Stephen Sondheim. Noteworthy, directed by Joan Petrelius, will be the closing act, performing some of their favorites -- including "White Wings," "The River," and "Breaking up is Hard to Do."

Other performers include Barbara Lide, mezzo-soprano; Kate van Susante, Mollie Trewartha, Becky Barnard, Andrew Barnard and Alex Frazier; Courtney Clisch, soprano; Karin Schlenker, mezzo-soprano; Ruth Robertson, soprano, and Carol Waisanen, alto; Dollcie Webb, soprano; Roger Kieckhafer, baritone and Lara Neves, soprano; David Owens, musician and song leader; Emilie Krznarich, soprano; Kiersten Birondo, soprano; Jared Anderson, tenor; Liz Grugin, soprano; Wynter Bethel, soprano and Cheyenne Kaufman, mezzo-soprano.

Following the intermission David Owens will lead the audience in sing-along favorites, including "Zip-a-dee Doo-dah," "In the Good Old Summer Time," "That’s Amore" and more! Lyrics will be provided in the program.

Accompanists will include Alex Frazier, Lara Neves, Charles Young, Jared Anderson and Trisha Kuzmic.

A $10 donation at the door is suggested. Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church is located at 1010 Madeleine St. in Houghton.

HOUGHTON -- The 7th annual "Summertime and the Livin’ is Easy" -- an annual gathering of local musical artists who blend their talents through jazz, light opera, folk and
blues, to benefit Omega House -- will be held at 7 p.m. this Tuesday, July 30, at Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church, Madeleine Street in Houghton. A $10 donation is suggested.

This year’s featured artists include Erika Vye and Steve Brimm on guitar and banjo, along with artists Barry Pegg, Ann Campbell, Greg Campbell, Courtney Clisch, Trish Helsel, Cheyenne Kaufman, Maggie Kieckhafer, Roger Kieckhafer, Karen Schlenker, Emilie Krznarich, Barbara Lide, Lara Neves, Mark Oliver, David Owens, Tyler Plamondon, Marika Seigel, Mollie Trewartha, Kate VanSusante, and Eponine Zenker. Pianists will be Jon Ensminger, Jared Anderson, Trisha Kuzmic and Eponine Zenker.

During the 2012 Omega House benefit recital, "True Colors," at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock, Maple Sugar Folk, accompanied by Dave Bezotte on accordion,  perform "Belle Rose du Printemps," a traditional French song. Encouraging the audience at the 2012 Omega House benefit recital to sing along, musician David Owens plays and sings a medley of "Oldies," including such favorites as "The White Cliffs of Dover."

Any person in a hospice program or who would qualify for hospice care is eligible to live at Omega House. Medications, supplies and equipment are usually paid for by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurances.
