Webcast on global warming to be shown Jan. 31 at MTU

HOUGHTON -- The "2% Solution" webcast, originally planned for Wednesday but postponed because of the blizzard, will be shown at 8:15 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Jan. 31, in Fisher 138 on the MTU campus.

Focus the Nation, a project of the nonprofit Green House Network, has organized a national effort to promote environmental activism on college and university campuses on Jan. 31. Professors at more than 1,100 colleges, including Michigan Tech, have agreed to discuss issues relating to global warming in their classes or take part in panels throughout the day.

As part of this effort, MTU students are sponsoring the interactive webcast "2% Solution," which advocates lowering carbon emissions by 2 percent every year.

Another webcast, "Face It," can be viewed at www.architecture2030.org. This webcast will reveal a challenge that offers creative and innovative students a way to get involved, as well as an opportunity to win money.
