Eagle Harbor to host Art Fair Aug. 11-12

EAGLE HARBOR --The 47th annual Fine Art Fair and Exhibition, featuring recent work by Copper Country Associated Artists (CCAA) members and 64 invited artists, will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12, in the churchyard of St. Peter's by the Sea and the area surrounding the historic Rathbone School in Eagle Harbor.

Of special interest are the many demonstrations of the technical and philosophic aspects of the work on display. This year the medium list includes watercolor and oil paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, quilting, fiber, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, basketry, silver, iron, copper, stone, wood, bark, computer assisted prints and other materials Each work exhibited is original and presented by the individual artist who produced it.

Selected as this year's Featured Artist by the Copper Country Associated Artists (CCAA), Edith Wiard of Calumet will demonstrate her use of color and its application to many art forms both Saturday and Sunday. As a multimedia artist whose style is influenced by cultural events and the environment, she works in watercolor, inks, handmade paper and other bits and pieces gathered in her travels. Her camera is a constant companion as a sketching and recording device.

Several local organizations will be offering food and beverage services, a bake sale and an all-township "whole-field-of-stuff" yard sale. All of the Keweenaw County Historical sites will be open. A handicap accessible restroom is available

Copper Country Associated Artists maintain an art center in Calumet, offering workshops and a gallery of members' work. For more information, contact CCAA show coordinator, Ginny Douglas at 906-337-1736 or email vdouglas0643@sbcglobal.net or visit the CCAA web site: www.ccaartists.org.
