HOUGHTON -- The Portage Lake District Library will host an event at which students will have an opportunity to learn how state government works.
On Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Michigan State Senate candidate Tom Casperson will talk to local youth about the structure of state government and how it operates. Casperson will explain how a bill is introduced and becomes law and how the legislative process is designed to work. He will also explain the importance of becoming involved in leadership and learning who our representatives are.
This event is sponsored by local homeschoolers and is open to all public and homeschooled students in grades 5 through 12. There will be time for students to ask questions about state government afterwards.
Library programs are free and everyone is invited. For more information, please call the library at 482-4570 or visit www.pldl.org.
